Cortez Yacht Charters is one of the oldest and most reputable independent sport fishing companies serving prime Mexico fishing locations.

Founded by legendary Cabo Skipper Larry Edwards in the early 80's, Cortez Yacht Charters has provided our clients with years of sport fishing expertise. Captain Larry served over 13 years as a charter captain in Cabo San Lucas before moving back to San Diego. He then established Cortez Yacht Charters initially providing custom charters only in Cabo San Lucas. His satisfied clients began asking for additional locations and the business added prime fishing fleets throughout Mexico's Pacific and Caribbean coasts. 

Captain Larry retired in 2018 and passed the torch on to us. We are dedicated to maintain the quality and integrity of Cortez Yacht Charters that he has built over 30 years in the business. It is with great pride and a sense of responsibility that we accept and embrace that challenge. Larry continues to advise us and we appreciate the vast knowledge that he is passing on.

Charles Ogden was a long time client dating back to Larry's early days of Cortez Yacht Charters. They became great friends over the years and swapped many fishing and hunting stories. When Charles lived north of San Diego he managed The Coleman Company sales for the western US and provided Larry and his deer hunting buddies with all the latest Coleman gear to test out annually at their deer camp in the mountains east of San Diego.

The Ogden's are a bunch of fishing nuts and have been fortunate to sample some of the greatest salt water fishing in North America and the Caribbean - from Key West Sailfish to North Carolina White Marlin and big Wahoo off the Bahamas. Our fishing trips to Islamorada and Boca Grande produced grander Tarpon. Our adventures to the Gulf platforms rewarded us with huge King Mackerel and Yellowfin Tuna. Momma Bear caught her first Blue Marlin off the famous South Drop in the US Virgin Islands and our son Chase boated his first big Wahoo off Roatan, Honduras. His first trip to Cabo resulted in a junior Grand Slam of Marlin, Sailfish, 130lb Yellowfin and big Bull Dorado off the Gordo banks. Son Josh cut his saltwater teeth on the multi-day Tuna boats out of San Diego. He caught his first Marlin and Sailfish on his initial trip to Cabo.

When we discovered the quality fishing that Mexico provides, we fell in love with FISHING MEXICO!  With Larry's help, we sampled fishing up and down the Pacific coast and along the Riviera Maya on the Gulf side. Both of our boys caught their first Striped Marlin and Pacific Sailfish on the same boats we are offering to you our clients!

Charles (affectionately know as Capt. Don Carlos Sr by his children and their friends) takes care of most of the communication with our fleets and captains. He will provide you with the most up to date fishing reports and insight into prime fishing seasons at each location. Momma Bear (Jamie) takes care of the books, website and helps out on e-mails and phone calls. She also books all of our travel.  Josh, a semi-professional bass angler on the ABA RAM and FLW BFL tour series and small business owner, is our internet and website guru. Chase is our social media leader and handles our Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat accounts.
